Description

In May 2007, the Authority advertised Tranche 1 Service Area on the National Roads Network. This was procured as a PPP Contract.

The Tranche 1 tender comprised the design, construction, operation and financing of three service areas on the national roads network. Two service areas are located on the M1 motorway and one on the M4 motorway. Each service area has facilities on both sides of the motorway and is accesible from both sides of the motorway. The design and construction elements of the Contract comprised the design and construction of facilties for motorists and their passengers, which provide extensive parking, fuel station, toilet block, Garda enforcement area and restaurant food/outlet facilities.

Tranche 2

 
Description

Tranche 2 Service Areas is a PPP Project comprising the design, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of two service areas, loated on the M6 motorway east of Athlone and on the M9 motorway south of Kilcullen, and the possible fit-out and operation a third service area on the M11 motorway near Gorey (to be constructed under a different contract). The scheme comprises the provision of facilities for motorists including extensive parking, fuel station, amenity building (comprising a restauraunt, convenience shop and toilet block) and a Garda enforcement area. A grade separated junction on the existing motorways, which will provide access to the single sided service area facilities, will be procured in a separate advance works contract. A Contract Notice was published in the OJEU in May 2011.
