| Description: | This scheme is part of the Watergrasshill-Mitchelstown scheme. It commences at Moorepark, north of Fermoy where it links to the M8 Rathcormac Fermoy Bypass and terminates at the grade separated junction at Carrigane, 5 km north of Mitchelstown. At the Carrigane Junction it links to the Cashel -Mitchelstown scheme. The scheme involved the construction of 16 km of high quality dual carriageway, with three grade separated junctions, 3 riverbridges and 7 road bridges. Construction commenced in December 2007 and the road was officially opened to traffic by the Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey TD, on 25th May, 2009.
This project has been funded by the Irish Government under the National Development Plan and Transport 21 and by the European Union from the trans-European transport networks budget. |
