
N4 Leixlip to M50 Junction

| Description: | The N4 improvement extends from the Kildare County Boundary in the west to the interchange with the M50 Motorway on the outskirts of Dublin in the east. The route follows the line of the existing N4, passing to the south of Lucan village and north of the developments at Fonthill Road. The length of the scheme is approximately 8 km. The scheme comprises:·widening to three lanes plus hard shoulder/bus lane from M50 Interchange to Ballydowd Interchange (Woodies); widening to three lanes plus hard strip from Ballydowd Interchange to Leixlip Interchange; extension of bus lanes west of Ballydowd Interchange; full grade separated interchange at Newcastle Road; upgrading of Ballydowd Interchange. Construction commenced on site in September 2007 and the scheme was officially opened on 6th July, 2009.
This project has been funded by the Irish Government under the National Development Plan and Transport 21 and by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund. |
